Past Performance
Peninsular Malaysia Collection
Malaysia is a tropical nation in Southeast Asia with an area of approximately 330,000 square kilometers. Persistent cloud cover, heavy rainfall and challenging terrain limit traditional mapping methods. Intermap collected X-band and P-band imagery across 130,000 square kilometers of Peninsular Malaysia in 35 days. Airborne IFSAR and DEM fusion supported the national mapping program.
Philippines National Mapping Program
The Philippines is an archipelago located in Southeast Asia. The country officially consists of 7,641 islands, replacing the former count of 7,107. The additional islands were identified through a 2013 airborne radar survey by Intermap Technologies. The survey also supported development of a national digital elevation model for mapping and planning.
Dominica: Completing an Incomplete Dataset
Malaysia is a tropical nation located in Southeast Asia. Peninsular Malaysia covers approximately 130,000 square kilometers and experiences persistent cloud cover, heavy rainfall and dense vegetation. These conditions often limit traditional mapping methods. Intermap collected high-resolution X-band and P-band imagery.

FAQs
Find answers about how Intermap collects high-quality geospatial data to support mapping, terrain analysis and mission-critical applications.
-
What is IFSAR and how does it work?
Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) is a radar-based mapping technology used to create detailed elevation models. It uses radar signals collected from two antennae at slightly different positions to measure surface height.
-
What is terrain data?
Terrain data represents the shape, elevation and physical characteristics of the Earth’s surface. It can be used to analyze features such as elevation, slope, drainage and landforms.
-
What is geospatial data collection?
Geospatial data collection is the process of gathering information about locations and physical features on Earth. Data can be collected using technologies such as radar and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) onboard satellites, aircraft and other remote sensing systems.
-
What is remote sensing?
Remote sensing is the collection of information about the Earth without making direct physical contact with it. Sensors on aircraft or satellites capture data that can be used to map and analyze terrain, land cover and other surface features.
-
What is radar imagery used for?
Radar imagery is used to map and analyze the Earth’s surface, including terrain, infrastructure, water features and land cover. Because radar can “see” through clouds and operate in darkness, it is especially useful for mapping areas where optical imagery may be limited.
